УДК 576:577 ASSESSMENT OF HEPATIC PERFUSION AND DIFFUSION IN CCl4 TREATED RAT LIVER USING MAGNETIC RESONANSE IMAGING
نویسندگان
چکیده
The liver is one of the most important organs of detoxification in the body. Use of diffusion-weighted (DWI) and dynamic contrast enhanced (DCE) 1H MRI for the assessment of hepatic perfusion and diffusion parameters were evaluated in a CCl4-induced rat liver injury model. Acute liver injury was produced by a single gavage of mixture of CCl4 and corn coil. MRI experiments were performed before and 24 h after the CCl4 treatment. CCl4-induced liver injury caused decreases in both fast and slow apparent diffusion coefficient of water measured by DWI, as well as a decrease in contrast agent uptake measured by DCE 1H MRI. DWI should prove useful in assessment of liver damage in diffuse liver diseases without the need for a contrast agent.

RATIONALE AND OBJECTIVES To compare the apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) and the perfusion fraction measured by intra-voxel incoherent motion (IVIM) Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) with liver fibrosis degrees in a rodent model. MATERIALS AND METHODS All experiments received approval from our institutional animal care and use committee. Liver fibrosis was induced in 13 rats by oral gavage...
متن کاملEvaluation of Hepatic Tumors Using Intravoxel Incoherent Motion Diffusion-Weighted MRI
BACKGROUND This study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic value of the D value, D* value, and f magnitude for identifying benign and malignant hepatic tumors using intravoxel incoherent motion (IVIM) diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI). MATERIAL AND METHODS Data of 89 cases (123 lesions) with hepatic tumor confirmed by surgical pathology and postoperative follow-up were retrospectively collected. Amo...

متن کاملGranulocyte-colony stimulating factor delays PWI/DWI mismatch evolution and reduces final infarct volume in permanent-suture and embolic focal cerebral ischemia models in the rat.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Granulocyte-colony stimulating factor (G-CSF) is used clinically to attenuate neutropenia after chemotherapy. G-CSF acts as a growth factor in the central nervous system, counteracts apoptosis, and is neuroprotective in rodent transient ischemia models. METHODS We assessed the effect of G-CSF on ischemic lesion evolution in a rat permanent-suture occlusion model with di...
متن کاملComparison of Intravoxel Incoherent Motion Diffusion-Weighted Magnetic Resonance (MR) Imaging to T1 Mapping in Characterization of Hepatic Alveolar Echinococcosis
BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to compare intravoxel incoherent motion diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (IVIM DW MRI) to T1 mapping for characterization of hepatic alveolar echinococcosis (HAE). MATERIAL AND METHODS Eighteen HAE patients confirmed by surgery were examined with conventional MRI, IVIM DWI MRI with 10 b values (range: 0-1,000 sec/mm²), and longitudinal relaxatio...
